Plasma nitriding was performed to suppress hydrogen uptake and permeation in pure iron. The influence of the phase structure nitrogen compound layer on behaviors examined. could be controlled by changing gas composition N2-H2 plasma. layers consisting ε-Fe2-3N γ'-Fe4N with a thickness 4.9 µm, 2.0 µm were formed plasma this study. During tests, resulted small current values compared as-polished specimen when it reached steady state. Especially, for extremely suppressed. Hydrogen plasma-nitrided iron specimens are discussed from perspective catalytic activity evolution diffusivity layers.
